Yes, believe it or not, they're calling for a 90% chance of snow here in the Las Vegas Valley for Monday, December 5, 2008. It's one of those rare occasions, and if it does happen the snow won't last long after the sun comes up. Still, the northwestern and west side of the valley could get 3"-5". It will be the first measurable snowfall in the valley since 2003. There's a map of the predictions here at the Las Vegas Review Journal.
With the holidays almost upon us and this possibility of snow in the desert, I thought I'd send along my best wishes to all. What better way than with this creation by the 'human' Sparky of Vegas. Yes, he put me in a snow globe. Click the on and off buttons for the snow...and enjoy the holiday music!
If you're now in a holiday mood, why not check out the lights and decorations at the Las Vegas Springs Preserve, or here at Ethel M Chocolates Cactus Gardens. Then after your Las Vegas visit, make sure to go out and have a safe and happy holiday season, and a prosperous New Year wherever you are!

It's snowing in all kinds of unusual places. Enjoy it as I'm sure it won't last! :) Merry Christmas, Roberta!
Roberta, it snow here in New Orleans last week, it did cheer everyone up. Hopefully a brighter new year is in stored for all of us.
Merry Christmas.
SNOW? WOW!!! Love it. and look at you all decked out for the holidays!
Merry Christmas!
your friend in Charlottesville
Jesse: Well....they were a little off on the forecast. There was some snow northwest & west, and of course the mountains, but not for most of the valley. Merry Christmas!
Frank: I'll bet that was cool, and a little unusual for the Big Easy! Yes, I think we're all ready for a better year. Merry Christmas!
Charles: Well just a little, but at least we'll have it on the mountains! Glad you liked the outfit! Have a Merry Christmas!
Julie: Seems there some wild temperature swings all over this year. My better half made the snow globe, he does some flash animation from time to time and has the software for it.
Some pictures & video of the Las Vegas snow here at KVBC TV 3
Hi Roberta... I'm glad that it's snowing for you, but really LOVE you and Sparky in the snow globe together! :)
Steve: Thanks! Well...unless you mean you think I should be locked up in a plastic bubble! LOL
I have family in Vegas and seen the pics with all the snow. I'm in Bullhead City and for a while I thought we might get some snow in the Mts around us. Love your globe.
Merry Christmas
Bonnie: It looks like there's a second chance for snow in Las Vegas on Wednesday. Bullhead looks like it will only be a rain / snow mix, but might be a chance for something in the mountains down your way.
Here's the latest guess from the NWS.
Glad you enjoyed the globe! Merry Christmas!
Bob: Same here, but it does look good on the mountains. Norm had a great picture here.
Glad you liked it! Yes, that crazy human Sparky put John Huck in one (long story), and john used it for the kicker to end the 10 O'clock news.
Searchlight has 4"of snow as of tonight and travel through Cal Nev Ari is closed. We're suppose to go to Vegas tomorrow to Dr not sure we will be able to make it. Heard Vegas can get up to 10" tonight. We had snow in the Mts today and alot of freezing wind and rain. Felt like Mn days. Tooooo cold.
Bonnie: They had closed quite a few roads earlier. 95 at Railroad Pass was open only to Boulder City residents, I-15 south to California closed at Primm, and some others. At the moment it's 34 and light rain here in Henderson. Close to freezing, so possible for more or icy spots. Should start to ease up sometime tomorrow morning, so be careful if you make the trip. Yes, it reminds me of back east, and to be honest I prefer the warm weather! Fortunately this is a rare event and won't last long.
Bonnie: Fortunately for travel, the snow didn't last long. Didn't get as much valley wide as they predicted. Beautiful in the mountains, though. You have a great weekend, too!
