Roberta's Las Vegas Real Estate Blog: Las Vegas Home Sales Up Again!

Las Vegas Home Sales Up Again!

Yes, contrary to all the gloom & doom the media likes to blast out about Las Vegas, home sales are up for the 6th straight month. Inventory levels also continuing to remain stable.

A short blurb from the Las Vegas Review Journal

Edited to add - A more detailed story from the RJ

You might also want to take a look at one of my posts from a short while back, about some of the media spin about the Las Vegas housing market.

Those truthful stories seem to be well hidden, and don't have the same attention getting clout as the 'shocking' headlines. It's why you need to look much closer at the local market and not rely on vague distant reports. No, of course the Las Vegas real estate hasn't 'recovered', and why there are still a number of excellent values to be had. All the more reason to be shopping now, while the selection is still there.

For just the hospitality industry, Wynn's Encore is hiring 5300, Station is hiring 1000, Cannery East 300 this year. Shortly into next year MGM's City Center is set to begin hiring 12,000+, and then Fontainebleau and M Resort, Boyd's Echelon Place and others after that. The largest commercial investment in Las Vegas history at over $30 billion will be bringing more changes, and jobs, in the near future.

Great to see communities that are doing well... The doom and gloom stories about the real estate market seem to be everywhere these days.  Of course there are places where the news is accurate, but in most places the economy is just fine, but consumer confidence is low largely due to the "Chicken Little" type stories about the sky falling.

Most of the newspapers could be better utilized as toilet paper.

Keep reporting the great news about Las Vegas!! Your pictures are great too!

WOW, that is a lot of jobs and with that I'm guessing you are going to have an influx of new residents again in the next year. Hopefully for your sellers that will bring prices back up again, but as you stated if you are in the market for a home now, you'd better buy quickly!

Bill: Yes, the media is all about tabloid headlines any more, not about what is really happening. If they're going to resort to sensationalized stories, I prefer the ones they used to do like 'Space Aliens abducted my mother in law' and '90 year old has triplets'. :-) Glad you like the photos!

Aaron: Have to keep the public correctly informed. Bad info can cost them a bundle!

Todd: Yes, it's huge. It dwarfs all of the previous Vegas building booms. If you check our that link on commercial construction, there's a healthy list in construction and a number of the proposed projects very close. That's just in hospitality, and a lot more going on besides that. There is office and HQ construction on the beltway, new VA hospital and it's satellites, and other medical like the Lou Ruvo Brain Institute building in Union Park downtown next to World Market Center. There's more info on the $6 billion Union Park here in my Lady Luck blog.

Oh, and they just opened the highest capacity Solar Thermal manufacturing plant from Ausra

There is an awful lot going on in Las Vegas, but you'd never know it if you only believe the gloom & doom that saturates the press. Seems to be on the grow nationwide. Hmm and in an election year...which candidates or political parties will save us and expose the hidden good news...once they're elected, of course! :-)
