Roberta's Las Vegas Real Estate Blog: Las Vegas New Home for Snickers

Las Vegas New Home for Snickers

Nine month old Snickers, has had a busy life so far.  He is a Cocker Spaniel, who was shipwrecked with his family on a tiny island in the Pacific, about 1000 miles south of Hawaii.

Jack Joslin, a Las Vegas resident, read the story and decided he had to help save Snickers.  Joslin negotiated with the Kiribati government and got help from  Norwegian Cruise Lines, Hawaiian Airlines and the Hawaiian Humane Society so that he could bring Snickers home to live with him.   Snickers boarded a cruise ship, then flew to Los Angeles, where a volunteer picked him up and drove him to Joslin's home in Las Vegas.
The family also left a pet parrot behind on the island.  Joslin is trying to get custody of him also but he is a endangered exotic bird, so it may not be as easy to get him.

Thanks for sharing that story.  Had it been me there is no way I would have left  my dog.  I'm sure the supply ship could have left them with provisions and called for help.  People like that  suck!

Patrice: It is good to have people like Jack around!

Sharon:  I hope he gets the bird too!

Terry:  I agree with you!  I would NEVER have left my dog there!!

I heard about this on the news at a time when I just lost my most beloved cocker spaniel.  There is just no way I would leave my dog.  If I had to hold my dog the entire way, I would not leave her.  I am so glad there are people in this world who really do care and that these two animals will have the loving home and loyal owner they so deserve.

Donna: Sorry about your loss!  I would have never left my dog either!  I can't even imagine leaving a pet behind like that!  It is wonderful that Joslin gave Snickers a home.
