Nothing but Gambling in Vegas....I Think Not!

You think that when you move to Las Vegas, there will be nothing to do except gamble? Let's take a look. Here are just a few of the activies for locals to enjoy.

For swimmers,  there are several pools to choose from, both indoor and outdoor.  Clark County has several locations that are open year round for your swimming pleasure.  The county's information on all the aquatics is on their website  click here.  The City of Henderson also has many pools to choose from.  They offer classes for all levels of swimmers, from babies to seniors including swim aerobics.  The city is going to begin building yet another indoor/outdoor aquatic complex.  You can check all the aquatic activities on Henderson's website here

Maybe you or your kids like to skateboard.  There are many skateboard parks around Las Vegas.  Two of the biggest parks are Desert Breeze Park in Clark County which is 20,000 square feet and Anthem Hill Park in Henderson which is over 26,000 square feet.  They both accommodate all levels of ability from beginners to advanced. For the more advanced skateboarders, the new Hollywood skatepark is the place to be at 29,000 square feet. Just put on your helmet, grab a skateboard and have fun!  There are other skate parks to choose from that can be found on Clark County's website.

What about dog parks? Well, there is quite a few in the Las Vegas area.  Here is a list of all the parks available for your dogs to enjoy. dog parks

You like to walk or bike?  Check out the River Mountain Loop Trail and a map of all the other trails that are available for you to use. River Mountain Loop Trail    Clark County will have the largest public recreational shooting park due to open in the winter of  2008. You can check out the details here.

To get in touch with nature, you can hit the trails at the Wetlands Park.  If you are a bird watcher, you can find them here.  New bike and hiking trails along with picnic areas will be completed in 2008.  Then by 2009, plans are to have a Nature Center with exhibits and classrooms.  You can get all the information here.

Make sure you check out all the classes that are offered and the children and teen activities that are provided.  You can feel safe knowing that your young children have a place to go before and after school.  All the recreation centers have activities for all ages.  There are also senior centers with activities and day trips.  You can see what is going in Clark County Senior Centers  or check out the activities at the Henderson Senior Centers

I'm sure I haven't covered everything there is to do in the Las Vegas area, but this is a good start.  There is something for everyone.  So take a look and start having fun!

Hi Roberta,
A very good post to market your area.  Cities seem to get tagged with one thing when there are so many different other sides.  Thanks for sharing.

Roberta,

You  have dog parks in Vegas? Really?  I'm impressed. We have them here in NC but we have lots of trees and open space.

Sally: Thanks to reading terrific blogs like yours and other, I am learning how to post blogs.

Cynthia: You are right.  When we get out of town visitors, they are always surprised that we don't live on the strip.  We live like "normal people" and have malls and Wal-Mart's just like everybody else.

Tracy: Yep, we have dog parks and trees and grass and open spaces!  We even have horses and peacocks living on farms just minutes from the strip.  It still shocks me sometimes too!
