Mirage New Volcano Now Erupting! $25 million Las Vegas Remodel - Pictures & Video

If you needed some ideas for your next $25 million dollar landscape makeover, you may want to check out what the Mirage has done. Back in September I posted about the makeover, and have a picture there of the drained lagoon and the story and video of the new effects and music in the works. Yesterday was a day of unveilings, first with the new Las Vegas Sign Parking Lot opening. Then last night, December 8th, the new and improved volcano opened, here's one of the several videos available from YouTube.

I'm not sure if the fireworks will be a regular ending, although next door it's done for The Sirens of TI Pirate Battle at Treasure Island. The Mirage volcano didn't have them at the later show, but the wind was whipping up by then.

For an idea of what the new lagoon looks like, and a better idea of the colors and 'lava sprays', my ace photographer grabbed some stills. They capture the transformation of the tranquil lagoon with waterfalls and dolphins into an exploding inferno where you can feel the heat from the blasts. To see the pictures full screen, instead of using PLAY, click the HD / Full Screen button on the bottom of the player below, and when finished click it again or use the ESC key to return.

This is just another of the reasons that Las Vegas is an incredible place to live. It seems like it's in a near constant state of 'New & Improved', making boredom something you have to work at. Combine this with all the free entertainment, entertainers, locals specials, community events, natural and man made wonders, and holiday displays
, and there's always something to see and do in and around the Las Vegas Valley.
